Upcoming Event: SQLSaturday, Madison, WI – April 7-8
Ed Leighton-Dick will present a pre-conference session and a regular session at SQLSaturday in Madison, WI, on April 7 and 8, 2017.
Ed’s pre-conference session will focus on SQL Server security. This is a strategic class: the goal is to show you what you need to think about, not only in how to approach security within the database, but also what you need to look for across your organization to make sure that the paths to approach your database – such as the applications and the network – are also secure. At the end of the day, attendees will have enough information that they can make informed choices about what needs to be implemented in their environment and create a plan to get it done.
His regular session on Saturday, April 8, will cover extending applications using Service Broker. A lot of people have used Service Broker to create a simple messaging infrastructure on a single server, but it can do so much more than that. Service Broker is designed for reliable, secure communications between instances of SQL Server, and it can even be extended to allow interactions with other services. It’s an incredibly powerful feature that can solve some significant problems.
The pre-conference session costs $125 per seat. The Saturday conference is free but does have a nominal fee for lunch. Full details about both sessions – as well as all of the other sessions at the conference – can be found at the SQLSaturday Madison event website.
